Graeme Copland Memorial Lecture Recipient
Sanjay Sethi is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Buffalo at the State University of New York (SUNY), Buffalo, New York, USA. He is Vice Chair of Medicine for Research and Chief of the Division of Pulmonary/Critical Care/Sleep Medicine at the University of Buffalo. Professor Sethi completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois and his fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Buffalo. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease and critical care medicine.
Professor Sethi’s main research interests include COPD and respiratory infections, focusing on mechanism of exacerbations, new therapeutics and innate lung defence in COPD. Professor Sethi has co-authored more than 160 research articles, reviews and book chapters, and is an editorial board member of numerous respiratory journals. He has served as a reviewer for the NIH, VA and several North American and European research funding agencies. Professor Sethi is currently active in several professional organizations including the American Thoracic Society where he has chaired the Clinical Problems Programme Committee. He has served as a consultant on the GOLD guidelines for COPD.
